1-01 Origins, Aired 9/24/99

A freak accident leaves the body of Michael Wiseman completely obliterated, but the United States government covertly makes him an offer he can't refuse. Dr. Theodore Morris says that the government can "keep his brain alive" and place it inside a new, genetically-engineered body. As an artificially created "superman," Michael is assigned the kind of dangerous and deadly tasks that ordinary mortals are loathe to do. There's only one catch in the deal -- for security reasons, Michael can never again have any contact whatsoever with: his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Heather; or his best friend, Roger. Meanwhile, a strange Asian man, Egg Man, starts a reign of biological terrorism in Tokyo and Paris.

1-02 On the Town, Aired 10/1/99

Dr. Theo takes Michael to perform a private demonstration for a select group of Senators, and Michael uses the excursion to escape. While Dr. Theo and his team head out to recapture Michael, Michael goes to his old office and convinces Roger to take him to see Lisa and Heather, without ever telling Roger exactly who he is. When they get to the house, Michael discovers that Lisa is going out on a date. He forces Roger to follow Lisa, and later that evening, he even gets to talk to her. Lisa is intrigued by this young man who has approached her. The mysterious Egg Man also makes an appearance, when he appears in New York and creates disaster inside a hotel.

1-03 Over Easy: Aired 10/8/99

After the accident in the hotel room, the Egg Man contacts the Mayor of New York and tries to blackmail the city. Unless he is paid a large amount of money, he will wreak havoc with his deadly eggs. Dr. Theo decides that Michael is the man to deliver the money since he is capable handling a dangerous situation. The money drop is to be made during rush hour on one of the busiest subway lines. In the meantime, Roger, Lisa and Heather head in to the city to try and locate the young man who was following Lisa the day before. When Michael gets on the subway to make the money drop, he is shocked to find Lisa, Roger and Heather standing just behind him.

1-04 One for the Money: Aired 10/15/99

Dr. Theo introduces Michael to an operative named Murphy who has been assigned the task of "eliminating" a man living in Japan, who has been selling classified state secrets. Dr. Theo wants Michael to assist Murphy, and even to do the “elimination” if needed. Michael is absolutely resistant, certain that he could never kill anyone, but Dr. Theo remains adamant. So disturbing is his assignment that Michael’s heretofore pleasant dreams about Lisa and Heather begin to take on a decidedly darker tone. In the meantime, Lisa decides it’s way past time for her to put a resume together and she tries to find a job.

1-05 The Insurance Man Always Rings Twice: Aired 10/22/99

Michael discovers that Lisa had to put their house up for sale for financial reasons, so he convinces Dr. Theo to let him become his old nemesis' assistant, Craig Spence. Dr. Theo realizes that Michael will never accept his new life if he is constantly consumed with his family's well-being, so reluctantly he agrees to let Michael infiltrate his old insurance company and squeeze the money out of Craig Spence (Chad Lowe), Michael's former apprentice, who took the promotion that belonged to Michael.

Dr. Theo suspects that someone is tampering with certain people's brain chemistry when various individuals begin to exhibit signs of extreme fearlessness. When Dr. Theo and Michael investigate this strange pattern of behavior, they uncover an elaborate experiment that simultaneously hurts and helps its victims. Michael must stop a man from spreading a drug that makes its recipients absolutely fearless even to the point of death. Meanwhile, Heather convinces Lisa that she should ask Michael out on a date. Lisa works up courage to seek Michael out and ask him to dinner; and Misenbach tries to see Lisa again.

1-07 A Girl's Life, Aired 11/12/99

Michael is given a new, anti-gravity suit that lights up very bright and which requires him to jump out of a plane -- without a parachute. The suit works, until Michael is forced by the weather and falls to the ground. At the same moment, Heather, walking home, is looking up at a bright object in the sky (not knowing that it's Michael) and is struck by lightening. When Michael finds out Heather's critical situation, he wants to go in and see her. Dr. Theo compromises by allowing Michael to climb the hospital and view her from the window. Michael accidentially turns the suit on and glow. Heather awakens and sees "an angel." She has to face the media, the kids and teachers at school -- even her mother -- as she tries to make sense of her "angel."

Dr. Theo allows Micahael to accompany him to his family's dinner for Thanksgiving. On the way, Dr. Theo's car breaks down near the Wiseman's house. Meanwhile, Roger is entrusted with a valuable object, which is placed in a briefcase and handcuffed to his wrist. Roger, Michael and Dr. Theo end up at the Wiseman house. But, Roger is followed by two burglars, who want the contents of Roger's briefcase. Michael is torn by what to do when the thieves hold everyone hostage.

Dr. Theo informs Michael that he will be learning hand-to-hand combat from Dr. Taylor. Dr. Taylor turns out to be a woman, whom Michael is very drawn to. Meanwhile, Lisa graduated from real estate school and begins to study for her real estate exams. She also runs into Gerald Misenbach, who talks her into giving him another chance. She goes out on another date with him. Michael, having been snuck out, goes out on the town with Dr. Taylor. As the evening draws to an end, what Michael and Lisa will (and won't) do on their prospective dates weighs heavily on their minds.

1-10 I've Grown Accustomed to His Face, Aired 12/17/99

Michael awakens to an empty apartment and thinks maybe Dr. Theo has finally made a mistake. But, as the day continues, Michael begins to worry. Men, in bio-suits, show up with guns and Michael leaves with them. In the car, Michael suspects the men may be up to no good and escapes from them. Without money or resources, Michael braves the big city to save Dr. Theo. Meanwhile, a man called Isley meets with both Roger and Lisa, at separate times, intimating that Michael may still be alive. Neither believes him, until he takes them both the Michael's townhouse. Also, Lisa is attemting to take her real estate exams for the first time.

Dr. Theo has the eyes for another scientist, but can't seem to find his tongue. A la Cyrano, Michael feeds Dr. Theo lines, so the Doctor can woo his "Roxanne." Michael is more than willing to help, until he remembers that he's about to forget his anniversary. Lisa is also feeling morose about the upcoming anniversary, which Heather has completely forgotten about. Meanwhile, a woman and a man, in two different place, at two different times, both spontaneously combust, for no apparent reason.

The government asks a very reluctant Dr. Theo to help them investigate a string of deaths. The cause of these deaths are spontaneous combustion. Michael, intrigued by all of it, forces a hesitant Dr. Theo to continue the investigation. Meanwhile, when the driving lessons with Lisa don't work, Lisa calls upon "Uncle" Roger to help. A helpless Roger agrees to ride along with Heather as she studies for her driver's license -- but it's Roger who ends up on the ride of his life.

#13 I am the Greatest, Aired 1/28/00

Michael finds out that there was another prototype before him. The original prototype left and has remained hidden -- until now. the governement thinks it's a boxer, about to compete for the world's heavyweight championship. Dr. Theo orders Michael to get close to the boxer, Maceo T. Jones, to find out who he really is. As Michael gets to know Maceo, he begins to wonder what will happen to the likable man when the government gets their hands on him. At the same time, Lisa starts her new job at a real estate firm. Her first client may prove to be more than she can handle!

#14 Film at Eleven, Aired 2/11/00

Dr. Theo takes a meeting with the President of the United States, leaving Michael to run around New York. Michael goes to the bank to withdraw cash, when the bank is held up. All the hostages, including Michael, get locked in a vault. Michael is caught on the bank tapes using his super powers to save another man. Dr. Theo is none too pleased when this tape begins to air on the news, since the project is up for renewal and Dr. Theo doesn't want to blow the chance of getting renewed. Meanwhile, Lisa find out a few interesting things about her new house-hunting client, Ben.

On the eve before he's to justify his existence to a leading senator, Michael suffers a catatonic seizure. A very worried Dr. Theo scrambles to find out what has happened. Unbeknownst to Dr. Theo, Michael has suffered from this before. Also in flashbacks, Lisa begins to suspect that Michael is having an affair.

#18 Lizzard's Tale: Aired 3/31/00

Theo, while dragging Michael along to a medical conference, runs into an old friend, Freddie Lizzard, who happens to run an illegal organ-farming business. When Freddie notices that Michael injures his hand and heals almost instaneously, he realizes that Theo has achieved his life-long dream of creating a synthetic man. Freddie kidnaps Michael to do further tests, and tries to force Theo to go into private business with him. Theo has to dispose of Freddie, but makes sure that his organs are donated. Meanwhile, Lisa needs a house listed or she is in danger of losing her desk at work, so Roger tells her to put up his house, even though he doesn't really want to sell. When she gets an offer almost half a million dollars more than the house is worth, Roger decides it's time to sell, but his wife Ruth doesn't feel the same way, and Roger ends up on Lisa's couch.

#19 There Are No Words: Aired 4/14/00

After Michael complains to Theo that his mind is going to mush because he's not allowed to read anything, all of the print in every book and on every document starts to disappear, including Michael's old love letters to Lisa. Theo discovers that the phenomenon is being caused by the nanobots in Michael's blood-stream. He becomes more and more depressed as the world's written history disappears. He finally wakes up from his nightmare (yes, it was a dream!) and buys a whole bunch of books for Michael to read.

#20 The Bugmeister: Aired 4/21/00

Specific high-ranking white-collar workers are dying from various types of insect bites and stings. Theo and Michael are called in by the government to help trap one of the attacking insects so that they can figure out how it is being controlled by a human, and how its normally harmless bite has become lethal. Heather meets a friendly entomologist at the Museum of Natural History in New York and cuts school to spend time with him. A man who threatens the entomologist is attacked by red ants in his sleep.
